Kingston

Kingston Oklahoma is an incorporated community in Marshall County. The community is around eight miles away from Madill. The town, established in 1894, is named for Jeff King, who was a local resident. The original settlement included a schoolhouse that doubled as a church, a cotton gin, and a general store.

The community went through many trials and tribulations, with the population dropping to under 500 before the Denison Dam was built in the Red River in 1944. The building of the dam created Lake Texoma, which brought a lot of tourism and activity to the community. While Kingston still has a population of under 2,000, millions of people visit each year to enjoy the lake.
